My name is Helen Watson, Ph.D.
(Елена Рафаэлевна Ватсон)
I am a professional linguist (phonetician) and interpreter/translator between English and Russian.
I've known about the British colony in pre-revolutionary Moscow for over 30 years.
However, for the longest time I was under the impression that its history was forgotten and impossible to restore.
It was only about 7 years ago that I decided to seriously dig into it and start with the place that still holds some of its memories -
Vvedensky cemetery in Moscow. This is the cemetery where pre-revolutionary non-Russian-Orthodox Christians found their final rest.
Having started with just a couple of names, I am now in the process of creating a database of over two thousand British families that until
the 1917 Revolution considered Moscow their home.
This is a work in progress. If you would like to share any information with me or would like to find out something about your ancestors, people or events you are doing research on, I would be very happy if you contacted me.
